Analysis of Band websites


Monstercat is a record label for a dance music artists and was voted the best dance label of 2017 at The dance music awards. The home page has a mainly black and white colour palette which matches the colours in the album art work displayed on the page. This creates synergy between the two which make the two pieces digitally convergent. The font in the menu bar is very basic in order to create a clean and professional aestehtic; this also better presents the artists albums by making their more colourful fonts stand out more. The logo is next to the company name in the the top left corner and stands out against the white background however is relatively small compared to the other contents of the page. This puts more emphasis on the artists work in an effort to represent them better. When you click on a certain artists page the background fill with their picture to give the viewer a better idea of the who the artists is which strengthens the relationship between the target audience and the artist. On all the artists pages there are direct links to their social media accounts which is bringing all their various media platforms together to optimise their exposure and presence to the audience. Flumes website has a documentary on its front page about the artist which gives the viewer a better understanding and represents them how ever they want. The background is a piece of artwork that creates certain aesthetic to suit both the music and artist. The fonts are very basic to keep it clear and simple for the viewer. In the top left of the corner there is a small logo for the artist. overall the simplicity and unique aesthetic of this website make it very memorable and clear in the viewers mind. It represents flume in more of an artistic way than most other band websites due to the images used.
